GE have the experience, expertise, equipment and insurance to carry out ecological mitigation, habitat creation and sensitive habitat clearance works.
Our Ecological Clerk of Works (EcoW) do not have to stand around watching contractors remove vegetation in order to create an access or clear a site ready for development because they are trained and insured to carry out the works themselves. This means that clients do not need to pay for two sets of people to complete such tasks.
Our services include:
- Sensitive site clearance
- Tree works of all scales
- Coppicing hedges (with or without dormice confirmed)
- Scrub clearance
- Grass topping (to prevent it becoming appealing to reptiles)
- Reptile & newt fencing
- Badger sett exclusion, closures & artificial sett construction
- Erecting bat, bird & invertebrate boxes
- Creation of hibernacula and refuges
- Translocation of notable plants
- Tree planting
- Habitat creation (including requirements to meet BNG)
Our specialist contractors hold dormouse licences meaning on jobs requiring an EPSL (European Protected Species Licence) or those where only an individual ecologist holding a dormouse licence is required to supervise the works, they can remove habitat without a separate watching brief.
They conduct nesting bird checks whilst they clear and we have badger experts who can dig out inactive setts rather than watch someone else do it.
Our approach means the person doing the work has more specialist knowledge of the habitats they are working on resulting in the protected species or habitat in question being best protected, whilst saving the client fees and providing a high level of assurance to local authorities and interested members of the public.
